Barış, toplumsal adalet, hoşgörü, eşitlik, demokrasi gibi değerler tüm çocukların ve gençlerin nitelikli kamu eğitimini özgürleştirmemizde bizleri birbirimize bağlayan değerlerdir.
Tıpkı sizin gibi, bizde gelecek nesiller için tüm çocukların mezhepçilikten, aşırıcılıktan, nefret duygusundan uzak bir eğitim almalarını istiyoruz.
Bu nedenle, bugün Eğitim Sen 10. Genel Kurulunuza hitap edebilmek bir onur ve ayrıcalıktır.
NASUWT; dostluk ve dayanışmayı birlikte genişletmek için, okullarda, iş yerlerinde ve toplumda sizinle birlikte eğitimde eşitlik ve adalet için savaşmaya devam etmektedir. NASUWT’un tüm yönetimi adına, başarılı bir Kurul için en iyi dileklerimizi kabul edin.
NASUWT, mevcut zorlukların üstesinden gelmek, demokratik kurumları, konuşma özgürlüğünü ve özgür basını susturma girişimlerini engellemek için, kamu emekçilerini bastırmaya çalışanlara karşı ve öğretmenlerin müdahalelerden uzak, bağımsız ve demokratik sendikalarla örgütlenme haklarını reddedenlere karşı sizin yanınızda yer almaya devam edecektir.
NASUWT, 686 sayılı Kanun Hükmünde Kararname kapsamında yer alan sendikanıza ve üyelerine karşı haksız saldırıların sona erdirilmesi için, Eğitim Enternasyonali ile birlikte Avrupa düzeyinde ve küresel olarak kampanya yürütmek için tereddütsüz destek ve dayanışmasına bağlı kalacaktır.
Bu kararname, demokrasi yanlısı güçleri susturmak için bir araç olarak kullanılmamalıdır.
NASUWT sivil haklara, demokrasi ve adil bir toplum yaratmak için yaşamlarını adamış öğretmenlere karşı yapılan saldırılar karşısında şaşkınlığa uğramıştır.
NASUWT, binlerce öğretmenin ve eğitim personelinin görevlerinden alınmalarına, açığa alınmalarına ya da keyfi olarak tutuklanmalarına sebep olan saldırılara ve mahkemede duruşmalar esnasında terörist olarak ve devlet aleyhinde yapılan eylemler nedeniyle suçlanmalarına öfkelidir.
Uluslararası toplumdaki meslektaşlarımızla birlikte NASUWT, Türk halkının ifade özgürlüğü, örgütlenme özgürlüğü ve herkes için barış, demokrasi ve eşitlik hakkı sağlamak için mücadelenizde sizi desteklemektedir.
NASUWT, Eğitim Sen’i, sendikal hak ve özgürlükleri güvence altına almak için belirlediğiniz ve devam eden çalışmalarınızdan dolayı takdir etmektedir.
Ve özellikle Eğitim Sen’i, keyfi olarak çalışma hakları ellerinden alınan ve bu sebeple geçim durumlarını olumsuz etkileyen eğitim emekçilerine pratik destek ve yardım sunma çabalarınızdan dolayı takdir etmektedir.
Şimdiye kadar binlerce üyenize yardım ettiğinizi bilmekteyiz.
Ancak, yapılacak daha çok iş olduğunu da biliyoruz. Elimizden geldiğince Eğitim Sen yöneticilerini ve temsilcilerini, öğretmenlerin ve ailelerinin desteklenmesinde sahip oldukları haklarının iyileştirilmesini ve saygı duyulmasını sağlamaya, öğretmenler için adaletin kazanılmasında sizleri desteklemeye söz veriyoruz.
Şu andaki haksız baskıdan ve insan haklarını reddedilmesinden muzdarip olan öğretmenlere, ailelerine ve topluma göstermiş olduğunuz yardım çabalarınız hayati bir rol oynuyor.
NASUWT, öğretmenler, çocuklar ve gençler adına yaptıklarınız için sizi saygıyla selamlıyor.
Fakat, sözlerin yeterli olmadığını ve NASUWT olarak harekete geçmeye kararlı olduğumuzu bilmenizi isteriz.
NASUWT, Eğitim Enternasyonali ile birlikte Türk hükümetine, öğretmenlere ve eğitim personeline yönelik tüm baskıcı eylemleri sona erdirmek ve herkes için kaliteli eğitimi garanti etmek için çağrı yapmaktadır.
NASUWT, Türk hükümetini, öğretmenlerin ve akademisyenlerin kovuşturmaya ve görevden alınmalarına son vermeleri için ve insan haklarına, ifade ve birlik kurma özgürlüğüne ve hukukun üstünlüğüne saygı göstererek demokratik bir toplumun gelişmesini güvence altına almak için yeterli çalışma koşullarını garanti etmelerine yönelik çağrıda bulunmuştur.
Ayrıca bizde kendi hükümetimizi harekete geçmeye çağırdık.
Çünkü bildiğiniz gibi Birleşik Krallık Hükümeti, Brexit’in ardından her yerde arkadaş ve müttefik aramaktadır.
İşbirliği ve ortaklığı geliştirmek önemli olsa da, her ne koşul altında olursa olsun bu yapılamamaktadır. Bunun yerine, insan haklarına ve sendikal haklara saygıyı gösteren, paylaşılan değerlere uygun değer taahhüdü desteklenmektedir. Ve bu yüzden NASUWT, İngiltere Hükümetine, Cumhurbaşkanı Erdoğan’ın Türkiye’nin insan hakları konusundaki kararlılığına ve sendikalara özgürlüğünü sağlamak için baskı yapmaya çalışmaktadır.
Eğitim Sen meslektaşlarının sivil hürriyetleri, ifade ve birlik olma özgürlüğü de dahil olmak üzere sendikal hakları sindirme veya misilleme olmaksızın garanti altına alınıncaya kadar destek vermeye devam edeceğiz.
Sizinle birlikte ayakta durmaya ve ortak prensiplerimiz ve değerlerimiz için savaşmaya gayret göstereceğiz, çünkü yapılması gereken en doğru şey budur. Bizi birbirimize bağlayan ilkeler ve değerler için dayanışma içinde mücadele etmeliyiz.
Çalışmalarınız hepimize ilham kaynağıdır.
Meslektaşlarım, NASUWT pratik ve siyasi desteğini sürekli yinelemekle birlikte, öğretmenlerin profesyonelliklerini, çalışma koşullarını, maaş ve emeklilik hakkını savunmak için kendi birliğimin zorlu mücadelesi ile ilgili birkaç şey söyleyerek dayanışma mesajını sonlandırmak isterim.
İngiltere hükümetinin kemer sıkma önlemleri, öğretmenler üzerinde ve ayrıca eğitim sektörünün günlük bazda karşılaştığı finansman kesintilerinin reel şartlarından dolayı çocukların ve gençlerin refahı üzerinde çok etkili oldu.
İngiltere’deki öğretmenler için, en çok endişe konusu olan konular iş yükü, maaş, iş kaybı ve güvencesiz istihdam ve ayrıca özelleştirme, pazarlama ve kamu eğitim sisteminin parçalanmasının etkileridir.
NASUWT, öğretmen morali, iş memnuniyeti ve refah konularında ulusal statiği sağlayan öğretmenlik mesleğinin durumunu belgelemeye devam etmektedir.
Öğretmenleri işe alıp, onları tutabilecek bir öğretim mesleğini, öğretmenlerin hak ettikleri saygı ve mesleki statüye sahip olduklarını güvence altına almak istiyoruz.
Ve İngiltere, Avrupa Birliği’nden ayrılmaya hazırlanınca, işçi haklarını korumak ve Birleşik Krallık’ın uluslararası işbirliği ve insan hakları konusundaki kararlılığını yurtiçi ve yurtdışında (mülteci hakları dahil) savunmak ve genişletmek için de çalışıyoruz. Bütün bu konularda sizinle birlikte çalışmaya devam etmek istiyoruz.

The Speech of NASUWT National President Fred Brown for 10th General Assembly of EGITIM SEN
The NASUWT, the largest teachers union in the UK, would like to thank you for your invitation to participate at the 10th Assembly, of your union’s struggle to defend teachers’ rights and trade union rights.
These are the values that bind us- peace, social justice, tolerance, equitability, democracy, and the right, of all children and young people to free high-quality public education.
Like you, we want an education for all children that prepares the next generation for the future- and education that is free extremism, free from sectarianism and free from the poison of hatred.
It is an honour and a privilege, therefore, to be able to address today the Egitim Sen 10th National Assembly.
To extend the NASUWT’s hand of friendship and solidarity as together we continue to fight with you for equality and justice in education, in our schools, and in our workplaces and communities.
On behalf of the entire leadership of the NASUWT, please accept our very best wishes for a successful Assembly.
The NASUWT pledges to continue to stand with you as you persist with your just endeavour to overcome current difficulties, not least attempts to inhibit democratic institutions, attempts to prevent freedom of speech and to silence free press and attempts to intimidate teachers and other public sector workers and to deny teachers the right to organise independent and democratic trade unions, free from interference.
The NASUWT pledges unwavering support and solidarity with you, working alongside Education International, to campaign at the European level and globally, to end the unjustified attacks against your union and its members which have taken place under the cover of Decree No 686.
This decree should not being used as a tool to intimidate and silence pro-democracy forces.
The NASUWT is outraged by the attacks on teachers and those whose lives have been devoted to civil rights, democracy any building a just and fair society.
The NASUWT is outraged by actions that have led to many thousands of teachers and education personnel being summarily dismissed from their employment, suspended or arbitrarily arrested and ordered to appear before court hearings falsely accused as terrorists and of actions against the State.
The NASUWT, with our colleagues in the international community, supports you in your struggle to ensure the right of the Turkish people to freedom of expression, freedom of association and the pursuit of peace, democracy and equality for all.
The NASUWT applauds Egitim Sen on your determined and continued work to secure trade union rights and freedoms.
And, we applaud Egitim Sen especially for your efforts to provide practical support and assistance to teachers who have lost their right to work and whose livelihoods have of affected as a result of the arbitrary dismissal of education personnel.
We know that thousands of your members have been helped so far.
But, we also know there is more work to do. And, we pledge to continue support you, to the best of our ability, in supporting teachers and their families, in ensuring that the rights of teachers are restored and respected, and in achieving justice for teachers and for the leaders and representatives of Egitim Sen.
Your efforts are playing a vital role in providing relief for teachers- their families and communities- who suffer from the current unjustified repression and denial of human rights.
The NASUWT salutes you for the work that you are doing on behalf of teachers and children and young people.
But, words of commendation by themselves are not sufficient. The NASUWT is also committed to action.
Together with Education International, the NASUWT has been working to appeal to the Turkish government to cease all repressive actions against teachers and education personnel and to guarantee quality education for all.
The NASUWT has called on your government to guarantee the provisions of decent working conditions by putting an end to the prosecution and dismissals of teachers and academics and to guarantee the development of a democratic society by respecting human rights, freedom of expression, association and rule of Law.
But, we have also called on our government to act.
Because, as you know, the UK Government, in the wake of Brexit, is looking for friends and allies anywhere.
And, whilst it is important to foster co-operation and partnership, this cannot be done at any price.
Instead, it must be underpinned by commitment to shared values- decent values which demonstrate respect for human and trade union rights.
And, that is why the NASUWT is campaigning to press the UK Government to press President Erdogan on Turkey’s commitment to human rights and to ensuring freedom for trade unions.
We continue to stand in support of our Egitim Sen colleagues until their civil liberties and trade union rights, including the right to freedom of expression and association are guaranteed without intimidation or reprisal.
We will endeavour to stand together with you and fight for our shared principles and values because this is the right thing to do. These are principles and values that bind us together in solidarity and they are therefore worth fighting for.
Your work is an inspiration to us all.
Colleagues, whilst reiterating the NASUWT’s continuous pledge of its practical and political support to you, I would like to end this message of solidarity with a few words about my own union’s uphill battle to defend teachers’ professionalism, teachers’ working condition and teachers’ pay and pension rights.
The UK government’s austerity measures have badly impacted on teachers and also on the welfare of children and young people due to the real terms funding cuts that the education sector is facing on a Daily basis.
For teachers in the UK, the issues of greatest concern include: workload, pay, job loss and insecure employment, and also the effects of privatisation, marketization and fragmentation of the public education system.
The NASUWT is continuing to document the state of the teaching profession, providing national statics on teacher morale, job satisfaction and wellbeing.
We want to secure a teaching profession which is able to recruit and retain teachers and where teachers enjoy the respect and Professional status they deserve.
And, as the UK prepares to leave the European Union, we are also working to protect workers’ rights and to defend and extend the UK’s commitment to international co-operation and human rights at home and abroad, including the rights of refugees. We look forward to continuing to work with you on all these issues.
